DateACougar.com is simply one of the best Cougar dating sites anywhere on the web in our humble opinion. What stands out about it are the many useful features that really boost your chances of finding a date, very detailed interactive profiles and variety of ways of getting in touch, all of which convey a sense that the owners have some considerable know-how in running an online dating site. The only slight weakness it has is that it can be a little tricky to navigate and use due to the web page design and sheer range of features. In addition, it doesn't quite match the search tools, nor the size and buzz of our top pick, OlderWomenDating.com. 

It's great to see that DateACougar.com focuses on Cougar and Cub dating whereas some other sites purporting to be Cougar-centric really aren't. Whilst you'll find some members who fall outside the older female-younger male dynamic, the majority of profiles are in keeping with the niche. Whilst there's a global reach, the vast majority of members come from the US and you might find your dating options slightly more limited if you're from outside the US. When we conducted this review it was difficult to tell exactly how many members were online in total, as you're matched according to your location. However, there were hundreds of members online within a very small radius, and thousands more further afield. We estimate that there are more than a million members registered; unsurprising, as the site has a fair pedigree. Whilst you're bound to come across some fake or inactive profiles, browsing revealed the majority to be fully complete with multiple photos.

It's free to join and create a profile, which takes just a minute or two. Once you've registered, you're free to take a look around. There are of course limitations to being a free member, so don't expect to be able to access all features unless you upgrade. In addition to creating a profile and uploading a photo, free members can use the basic search features to browse profiles and receive messages and IM invitations from other members.

Profiles are very detailed and the site generally is packed with information and features. Whilst this is great in offering you a myriad of features, the layout can be a little frustrating too. A cleaner and more logical format would improve the site and we reckon it may be time for a makeover, as this would help make navigation that bit easier. Member photos are great quality and can be enlarged by clicking on them. Whilst we didn't find any member videos, all the requisite information to give you a sense of that member is in place. What we especially liked was the checklist on the left side of the profile, stipulating 'contact preferences'. This basically lists what the member is looking for and makes it easier to decide whether you fit the bill before getting in touch. You can also click on the 'ask if she's interested' box if you want to cut to the chase. We should also mention that the profiles seem to be that bit more earnest and seeking meaningful relationships than no-strings fun.

To get in touch with other members there are plenty of options. You can send email, 'flirt' (an automated message sent to show that you're interested in a new member), chat using Instant Messenger or access the audio/visual chat rooms. As with the profiles, nudity is deemed too saucy and is banned in the public chat rooms, however, you can still go private to indulge your exhibitionistic desires. A couple of fun features to try out are the Little Black Book and Rapid Match. By adding a member to your Little Black Book, they are then asked to approve this. If they agree, you can each access the other's private photos, which basically means sexy photos that wouldn't be allowed on the main profile. Meanwhile, the Rapid Match feature allows you to view profile photos and decide whether you'd like to meet them, not like to meet or maybe meet. If you decide that you'd like to meet another member, they are then asked the same question and there's a match if they click 'yes'. You can go through literally hundreds of profiles in a short space of time. It's probably not the most romantic method, but it's still fun.

To search, there's the usual quick search option and a great advanced search too, if you're a little picky. There aren't really any tabbed searches on the search page, but you can sort members by newest, recently online, those with most photos and closest to your location. The chat rooms are well-used and you can use your web cam to communicate, but the public chat rooms weren't quite as packed as OlderWomenDating.com. If you like the site you can try a minimal commitment 3-day trial with access to all features. It's pricey to renew by the month, so consider the 3-month deal. We're sure that you'll find a date in this time, as long as you put in a little effort. There's a FAQs page and email support as well as 24/7 customer support for premium members.

DateACougar.com is a great way to meet Cougars and Cubs for online dating and more. Whilst it does have the odd weakness (notably the layout of the site itself), in terms of membership base, features and subscription rates it's hard to beat. If you're serious about finding a Cougar or a Cub, you should give DateACougar.com a whirl sometime. You won't be disappointed.
