CougarShag.co.uk is a great looking site boasting a number of fun and saucy features and plenty of members to hook up with. Whilst you'll find Cougars on the site it doesn't cater exclusively for younger guys and older women, so one or two of you might be slightly disappointed. In addition, there aren't any real time chat features on the site, which remains a mystery to us. However, all the features that are on offer are easy to use and give you a great chance of meeting others, so it's certainly worth stopping by.

CougarShag.co.uk boasts a membership base that runs into the hundreds of thousands rather than the millions, such as Milf-Date.com. However, it steals a march on its competitor due to the quality of features and the look of the site, not least reflected in the member profiles. The photo quality is very good indeed and most active profiles feature multiple images. Profiles are also detail-rich and well laid out so as not to be crammed onto the page. The site caters to UK-based heterosexual males and females only and purports to feature younger guys and older females; however, you'll find plenty who fall outside of this range. In addition to the usual profile content, you can also find a fair scattering of video profiles that you can watch even as a free member.

At the time of this review there were close to half a million members registered, but bear in mind that not all profiles will be authentic or active when you browse. In fact, quite a lot of profiles returned in our sample searches lacked photos. There were just a few thousand online when we dropped in, but it was quite an unsociable hour and we were impressed that so many were still up. The lack of online buzz may be due to there being no online chat feature, which is desperately needed here.

One of the nicest things is that generally the site is organized, easy to navigate and use. You can get in touch with members in a number of ways. Email is the default means of communication generally. To get in touch as a new member a couple of tricks might come in handy. If you like the look of a profile, why not send a 'wink' to show your interest. Winks can be sent at the click of a button and generate an automated message. If you want to cast your net a little wider, the 'Icebreaker' feature allows you to send a message to hundreds of members near you in order to generate interest. Just select the age of the members you want to contact, the area you want to reach, write your message and click to send. You can also create a list of your favorite profiles so not to forget your contacts.

Search options are a little limited if you're aiming to find something specific. You're basically limited to the Custom search, which has a very limited range of criteria. However, the one-click tab searches are useful and varied, including 'recommended members' (members most suited to you based on your matching preferences), latest member profiles and newest video and photo profile content. If you're in a hurry, the 'Encounters' feature enables you to judge whether you'd like to meet members based on their profile images and see whether the feeling's mutual.

Free members are a bit limited in what they can do; aside from joining, creating a profile, browsing the site, sending and receiving winks, there's little else. If you decide to upgrade you can expect a lot more, including access to all communication features, send virtual gifts, subscribe to mobile alerts, and write your own hot and steamy diary. However, if you're looking to hook up there's no more of a reason to upgrade than the 'Who's Near Me' interactive map feature. This allows you to see individual member locations on a map, and allows you to get in touch quickly and easily. Notwithstanding the odd omission such as online chat rooms and a slightly smaller membership base than you'd find elsewhere, the look and quality of features as well as ease of using the site makes this a stand-out choice for those contemplating Cougar dating.
