CougarLover.co.uk is a no-holds barred online dating site helping sexy Cougars to hook up with younger men in the UK. It looks good and it's easy to navigate your way around the various features on offer. Whilst you'll find all the basic features you'd expect, it's a shame there's no way of chatting online, especially considering that it's not the cheapest Cougar dating site out there. A modest membership base might also reduce your chances of finding a date.

CougarLover.co.uk claims to cater specifically to UK Cougars and Toy Boys. Whilst members are located in the UK, you'll find plenty of younger women and older men, which somewhat contradicts the point of a Cougar dating site. So, even if you don't fit the bill, it shouldn't stop you from joining, which might annoy those specifically looking for a Cougar or Toy Boy and fail to understand why you haven't joined a different online dating site. However, the 'irregulars' do bulk up the membership base; at the time of this review there were 454,669 female profiles and 583 online, the latter being quite a disappointment.

One of the reasons for a lack of online buzz may be because there aren't any ways of chatting online; clearly, the site requires chat rooms or an Instant Messenger feature. If you check out the profiles you'll find all the basic information (e.g. characteristics, location, interests and what they're looking for) set out clearly, with space for multiple photos and even video profiles. Whilst photos can be enlarged by clicking them, the quality and size still isn't all that impressive. A lot of profiles seem to lack photos, which may indicate that members will only share photos once contact is made, perhaps because of the nature of the site. It may also be that they're inactive or fake. Whilst you'll find plenty of complete profiles with lots of (often very hot) pictures, the majority are not like this. 

From a profile you can get in touch by email, sending a wink (an automated message sent by clicking a tab) or add a member to your favorites list. As mentioned above, there's no way of chatting online, so communicating can be somewhat protracted. The ethos of the site seems to be bringing people together to meet physically, which is also evidenced by the emphasis on location (e.g. when joining you are asked to register your postcode and you receive updates on members near you). The 'Who's Near Me' feature is useful if you want to hook up with somebody in your area. An interactive map displays the location of other members and you can view profiles and contact people this way. The custom search is very basic and has more filters and sorting options than search criteria options. The one-click tab searches offer quick ways to view who's online and members recommended to you (based on the profiles you browse). Meanwhile, the 'Encounters' feature is a fun way of deciding whether you'd like to meet members by viewing their photos; if you would, you can then wait and see if the feeling's mutual. There's also a FAQs page, email support and telephone support (9.00am-10.30pm GMT 7 days) should you need further guidance.

CougarLover.co.uk falls short of making it into our Top 10 because of its low membership base and lack of online activity, which is at least partly explainable by the lack of chat features. However, it does look appealing and there's plenty to explore, but not quite enough to make you want to stay for too long.
