5 Big Mistakes Made by New Members on Cougar Dating Sites

If you’re new to cougar dating, or haven’t yet explored cougar dating sites, you may want to read on. We’ve signed up for plenty of cougar dating sites, ready to chat to older women, but we’ve noticed a few mistakes that members keep making online. So, in a bid to help you avoid putting your digital foot in your mouth, here are five big mistakes that new members make on cougar dating sites…

1: Cougars-only expectations

Despite the name, cougars dating sites don’t only attract cougars. Whilst most members will be cubs (younger men) and cougars (older women), you’ll also find members who don’t quite fit that mould. So, if you browse a cougar dating site and find older men or younger women, don’t be too put off. There are still plenty of suitable members for you.

2: The wrong package deal

Some new members think they’ll find a date instantly. Whilst some members might find dates quickly, it can often take a while longer than expected. Trial periods are all well and good, and if you only want to use a site for a month or so, that’s an option, but generally you’ll find that you save money (on a month by month basis) if you choose a longer-term contract. These may also come with added benefits, such as extra features or profile highlighting. Consider whether you’d like to meet someone immediately or over time, how likely that is, and whether you’d like to become a part of the site’s community. It may be worth reconsidering which membership package you opt for.

3: Disrespect

Dating can be a daunting game, but it’s wise to stay as calm and collected as possible. You may see or hear things that you disagree with, or not like how someone is behaving, but airing your concerns on a public forum (such as a dating site) is usually a bad idea. It’s much better to contact the customer services team to discuss any issues, rather than taking it out on other members. Disrespecting other members is also rude and not likely to be tolerated, so remember your manners!

4: Ignoring features and tools

Search. Send messages. Repeat. This can be the process for new members looking for dates, but they can also be missing out on so many great features and tools. We recommend exploring the site in some depth, finding out about online communities, chat features, profile enhancements and other options which are available. These tools should help you to meet plenty of cougars or cubs, and to interact in a range of ways.

5: The wrong site for you

With so many cougar dating sites to choose from, it can be hard to know which to sign up for. It’s a good idea to have a think about who you want to meet, how you want to chat, and what other things you’d like to do online. Some cougar dating sites can be pretty risqué, with adult content at every turn. If you’re excited by this, seek out a site which offers lots of photo and video options, as well as members who like to show off a bit of flesh. If you’re a little more conservative, there are sites which will cater to that, as well as tools allowing you to tone down the adult content.

The lowdown…

Before signing up, it’s good to know what you’re looking for from a cougar dating site. So, explore a few different sites, think about how much you want to pay for their services and whether they offer the tools you’ll need. Once you’ve signed up, make sure you explore all the features on offer, and always remain respectful to other members. With a little sense and passion behind you, we’re sure you’ll do just fine!
