FilthyOver50Dating.co.uk is a hot and saucy online dating site for straight guys and girls over 50 in the UK. At first glance it's quite impressive; colorful, easy to navigate and with logically ordered features and an uncluttered feel. You'll find plenty of features too, including a really useful interactive map search that helps you quickly locate members near you. However, it lacks any online chat features so there's a distinct lack of buzz, which is compounded by a lackluster membership base.

It's necessary to point out early on in this review that FilthyOver50.co.uk differs slightly in this category in that it caters to more mature members on both sides, rather than Cougars and Toy Boys. However, despite this, you'll find lots of members, both male and female, who are considerably younger than 50. Whilst there were 454,779 female members registered on the site at the time of this review, only 43,562 were 50 or over, which suggests that it's not all it seems. If you're specifically looking to date older people, you'll probably be disappointed. Plus, there were only 675 members online when we checked in. 

It's free to join FilthyOver50Dating.co.uk and create your profile, as long as you have a valid email address. This allows you to have a good browse; you can always take a look round first and come back to complete your profile later. You'll notice that the site's simple to navigate and profiles appear clearly set out. Profiles aren't all that detailed but all the basics (personal characteristics, location, interests, what they're looking for and more-including self-written sections) are in place, including (often multiple) photos that can be enlarged by clicking. That said, the size and quality of photos isn't hugely impressive, but it's as much about the fact that many images are taken using webcams and mobile phones.

Communication features are a little limited. Other than sending email and 'winks' (automated messages sent to initiate contact with another member by clicking a tab), there isn't much else. Notably, there are no online chat features. However, you can add profiles to a favorites list or use the 'Encounters' feature, in which you decide whether you'd like to meet other members based on their photos. If you both want to meet each other then you've got a match.

There aren't too many search features either and a comprehensive advanced search would be useful. The custom search is very limited, though you can search for members by location. The best search feature, 'Who's Near Me' allows you to find members through an interactive map that graphically displays the location of other members. You'll also find one click searches (e.g. latest members, online members, new photos, new videos) including a recommended members search that suggests members based on how you use the site. If you've any other questions there's a relatively detailed FAQs page, email support and telephone support (9.00am-10.30pm GMT 7 days a week).

To sum up, FilthyOver50.co.uk looks great and has some decent features, but the over 50's are in a minority here and it has the feel of a more general dating site. Coupled with a lack of online activity and chat features, this dating site fails to deliver what it promises, which overshadows its good points.
